UK-based Ghanaian gospel artist Sonnie Badu has been heavily criticised by Nigerians following his comments on the latest xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
South Africa has been the subject of outrage across the continent following the wave of xenophobic attacks in the country.
Some citizens of the country have gone on rampage, destroying and looting properties belonging to other African nationals.

The situation escalated earlier this week, with some gory photos and videos capturing happenings in Johannesburg.
In some of the viral videos, South African citizens are seen beating and torturing other African migrants, who they claim have taken over their jobs.
In a Facebook post, Sonnie Badu said it was wrong for Nigerians to retaliate by also looting shops owned by “Chinese and whites”.
He explained that some bad people have joined in the exercise and are equally looting shops owned by fellow Nigerians.
“I have heard the Chinese and whites are being attacked and robbed in Nigeria, by Hoodlums all in the name of retaliation (now the evil ones will take advantage), shops are being broken into and Nigerian owned shops are being looted, is this retaliation?” he wrote.

However, the singer’s comments did not amuse some Nigerians and took it up with him in the comments section.
Below are some of the comments:
Kingsley Iserhienrhien: “Sonnie am not surprised? you sharing what you heard without facts. You Ghanaians do maltreat Nigerians in your own country, you guys are not different from SA. Am talking out of experience but you, you heard. Ghanaians are nursing such hatred towards Nigerians in your neighbourhood.” Uchechukwu Okoronkwo: “Badu has acted irresponsibly. You don’t share what you hear…you confirm it first. FYI no foreigner has been attacked in Nigeria.”
