Rare photos of Rawlings' mother pop up as she celebrates 100th birthday

The mother of former president Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has reportedly turned 100 years on September 9, 2019.

Madam Victoria Agbotui, was born on September 9, 1919 to parents who are both deceased.

She came into the limelight following her son’s ascension to power in 1979 as the head of state of Ghana.

YEN.com.gh however spotted a photograph of her in her couch together with her only surviving brother, Josuah Agbotui.

Per the photograph sighted, she does not look her age at all as she looks like she just turned 80 years.

It was earlier reported that the mother of J J Rawlings passed away after a short illness.

YEN.com.gh however the former president, Jerry John Rawlings dispelled rumors making rounds that his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui is dead.

Though the former president’s mother is advanced in age, it said the old lady is healthy and strong.

A statement from the Office of the former president signed by the head of the Communications Directorate Kobina Andoh Amoakwa has therefore asked the general public to disregard the reports.
