Former France captain Marcel Desailly has celebrated his birthday with a party inside his plush mansion in Accra.
Born September 7, 1968, the World Cup winner turned 51 years old last Saturday and it was a grand celebration.
Desailly had the likes of former Ghana captains Abedi Pele and Stephen Appiah joining him at home to celebrate.
Photos and a video sighted by YEN.com.gh show that Desailly's birthday started with a gift of wine from his workers at the Lizzy Sports Complex.
Later in the day, Desailly had football gala competition organised for kids at the Lizzy Sports Complex and he was there himself to watch.
In the evening, Desailly took the celebration home where he had a party with family and friends.
It was at the party that Abedi Pele and Stephen Appiah joined the France legend and the three were seen sitting at a table.
Born Odenkey Abbey in Accra, Desailly was adopted and had his name changed after his mother got married to the French consulate.
The family later moved to France where Desailly's football career started at FC Nantes before proceeding to Olympique Marseilles, AC Milan, Chelsea before retiring at Qatar SC in 2005 after 19 years as a professional footballer.
It must be noted that Desailly played with Abedi during his time at Marseilles where they both won the UEFA Champions League in 1993.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh recently published photos of Marcel Desailly's plush mansion he owns in Accra.
This is the same mansion where the birthday party took place.
