The names of the family have been given as Oman Kwaw Koranteng, the husband, Sophia Kpotogi Daale, the wife, and Oman Akuaku, their three-year-old child.

ACP Hlordze said they were first shot dead by the killers, after which they set them ablaze to ashes so that it was even hard to recognise them immediately.

He also decried the unwillingness of those around, the members of the community, to speak on the matter and tell everything they know about it in helping to apprehend the killers.

Their bodies were burnt beyond ashes so we are unable to recognize the deceased persons. The villagers are not willing to cooperate with us,” the ACP said.

They (family of three) were ambushed and shot dead and burnt. They were going to fetch water…. they rear cattle there and fetch water in the area at the sea nearby. While they were going the people laid ambush and they were shot and later burnt to death,” he added.

ACP Hlordze has said the police are keenly pursing the matter and will ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book.
