At 23, Dr. Julia Nepper became a role model for young women who want to pursue careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) after she graduated with a PhD in biophysics from the University of Wisconsin.
Julia Nepper gained admission to study at Cape Fear Community College at age 12 and got her associate degree when she turned 14. And later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UNCW.
She maintains that most of the people she met while growing up and in the course of her studies could have attained her feat if they also had support.
Despite the hurdles of acquiring tertiary education at a tender age, Juila notes that she did not fault her parents while stating that it was clear that she could have handled it.
Most of Julia’s life has been spent in college and she hasn’t really experienced the real world.
Currently, Dr. Julia Nepper has been participating in science-athon projects to be a role model of color to those who are interested in STEM careers.
She’s been determined, resilient and ambitious her whole life and indicates that she isn’t about to stop.
