- Dr. Opoku Prempeh says he is convinced some students who collapsed at the Black Star Square faked it
- He also noted that 95% of the students have been placed by the CSSPS, so there is no cause for alarm
- The education minister, in an interview, added that hackers from Russia and Ukraine are moving heaven and earth to bring down the CSSPS
Ghana’s Minister in charge of education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has alleged that some of the people who collapsed at the SHS Placement centre on Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Black Star Square in Accra, faked it.
Speaking on Accra based Asempa FM, the sector minister who doubles as the MP for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region said he was 100% convinced some of the persons reported to have collapsed, faked it.
He also opined that majority of the people who thronged the Independence Square had no business being there because they had already been placed in schools they chose themselves.
Dr. Prempeh noted that, the whole fainting brouhaha was staged only to make the government look bad and unpopular.
He further revealed, without a shred of evidence, that hackers from Russia and Ukraine are moving heaven and earth to bring down the CSSPS, “but have failed”.
The Education Minister also added that the 2019 placement system by far, is the best.
At least three students were reported by the media to have collapsed on Monday, September 16, 2019, while trying to secure placement for SHS.
Hundreds of frustrated students and parents assembled at the Black Star Square for solutions to their SHS placement problems, leading to some sort of a stampede.
The chaotic nature of the exercise led to the collapse of some students.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that it had sighted a sad and emotional video of how some parents and prospective senior high school students who were awaiting placement had turned the Black Star Square into a church.
In the video both parents and their wards were fervently praying for the intervention of God in their wards' SHS placement.
