Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan may soon be playing for NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League, YEN.com.gh understands.
According to reports YEN.com.gh, Gyan has been targeted as the main signing for the Indian team in their upcoming season.
NorthEast who reached the semi-finals in the league in the 2018/2019 season has lined-up Gyan to replace Nigerian Bartholomew Owogbalor Ogbeche who was top scorer at the club with 12 goals for last season.
Gyan, 33, has become available on a free transfer following the end of his contract at Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor.
The Ghana star's representatives, it is understood, are already in talks with NorthEast United and announcement is expected to be made soon.
The 2019/20 Indian Super League start on October 20, 2019, but NorthEast United will be in action against defending champions Bengaluru.
If Gyan's deal goes through, he will be joining another Ghanaian footballer, Augustine Okrah, who signed for NorthEast United in 2018.
