After struggling with homelessness owing to poverty, a New Jersey teenager, Dylan Chidick, has overcome the odds through hard work to earn admission into 17 universities.
The 17-year-old brilliant student, who once battled homelessness set high goals and attained them despite the herculean hurdles and countless heartaches.
Chidick is a native of Trinidad and his family moved from the country when he was 7 years.
The teenager’s younger twin brothers are suffering serious heart conditions and the family had been in and out of homelessness.
Adding to his painful experience and struggling childhood were narratives from people who said he was not going to make it.
However, determined Chidick proved them wrong and he did that by being accepted into 17 universities.
With this feat, he becomes the first person in his family to receive tertiary education.
Chidick attributes his achieve to his single mother, Khadine Philip, who solicited financial help from a non-profit organisation, Women Rising, to help him.
Their family had been struggling with homelessness and Chidick says he’s had to work hard to ensure that they never get back in that situation.
Women Rising has been very supportive of the family and has provided Chidick’s family with housing and provided him with a safe place to study.
17-year-old Chidick will be studying political science at the College of New Jersey, his dream school, on a full scholarship.
Meanwhile, following several burglary attacks by armed robbers, a Nigerian artiste famed as Yougestlandlord, took to social media to literally ''beg'' gangs in Edo State, Nigeria, to spare him and his household.
Yougestlandlord, in a snapchat video recounts a life threatening ordeal about how he’s been robbed multiple times in his house.
He appealed to thieves, pickpockets and armed robbers in Nigeria, specifically in Edo State, to have pity on him while stating that he is not as rich as they think.
