Information available shows that 42% of Black women have never been married and this is double the percentage attributed to White women.
It has been further established that there about 1.8 million more Black women than men in the USA, implying a shortage in the number of men available to marry them.
From this statistic, it has been deduced that one out of 12 women would remain single even if all Black men in the USA married all the Black women there.
American comedian, television host and author, Steve Harvey, argues that the situation has become possible because of the standards and expectations of women.
He explained that women subconsciously desire men who are educated and make equal or more money than they do.
He went ahead to say there is an urgent need to modify such requirements if they become obstacles in a Black woman’s quest to find a soul mate.
