Despite being hit from all angles with some of life’s painful experiences, Gilbert Otyeng, a physically-challenged teenager has hopes of becoming an acclaimed doctor.
However, dreams and aspirations require financing to materialize and Gilbert has been compelled to go through life the hard way in pursuit of his goals.
Gilbert Otyeng, crawls at least 1.5km daily, to and back from school, a journey he's been undertaking for the past 11 years to access education.
The 16-year-old student is a class four pupil at the St Dominic Aderema Primary school in Teso South constituency, Busia County, Kenya.
Gilbert reveals his experience has been very painful and disclosed in an interview that he wakes up very early to crawl to school.
According to atinkanews.net., Gilbert crawls to school, returns home for lunch and back to school daily.
His sad reality is compounded and made more hazardous when it rains. Gilbert is forced to either stay home or crawl through the mud to get to school which sits on a hill in their community.
Being the seventh child of nine children, Gilbert lost his limbs at the age of five when he became paralyzed.
Currently, he reveals that his greatest need is for a benevolent person to secure him a wheelchair to aid his mobility.
Meanwhile, following the arrest of three alleged coup plotters after they targeted Ghana’s presidency, some Ghanaians are mopping the floor with the country’s government in a funny twist, using a coup challenge hashtag on Twitter.
Ghana's government in a statement said the plot had ''the ultimate aim of destabilising the country''.
