Lionel Messi made his first start for Barcelona in their 2-1 win over Villarreal at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, but the Argentine could only lasted 45 minutes on the pitch.
The 32-year-old made his presence on the pitch felt earlier in the game after providing assist for Antoine Griezmann's goal in the sixth minute.
Messi however picked up a knock in the 31st minute of the game after being tackled from the back by Javier Ontiveros.

He however continued the game like nothing ever happened after being attended to by his side's medical team.
But later on in the first half, the Argentine started showing signs of injury and did not return to the pitch with the rest of his teammates at the start of the second half.
Frenchman Ousmane Dembele replaced Messi for the remainder of the game but he did not make much impact as he recently returned from injury.
Meanwhile Barca manager Ernesto Valverde admitted that his captain suffered a little discomfort in his thigh and said: "It's some discomfort in the abductor and so we didn't want to risk it."
Messi had to wait till after FIFA international break to make his Barcelona debut this season in their Champions League goalless draw in Germany last week.
The forward had been out for almost a month due to the calf injury he suffered during the 2019 Copa America championship staged in Brazil this summer.
