A district court has freed six persons who were arrested in relation to the murder of two policemen in Budumburam in the Central Region.
The six were freed after the State Prosecutor dropped charges against them.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Sylvester Asare, latest development on the case meant the charge sheet amended, thus the release of the men.
The court, therefore, obliged and discharged the six.
Meanwhile, police said investigation is still ongoing and presented a new charge sheet, and the case will be recalled on October 9.
The prime suspect, Eric Kojo Duah is still in the custody of the police.
Eric Kojo Duah was heading towards the Volta region before being arrested at the Atimpoku bridge in a black Golf car with registration number GW 5972 – 18.
Unarmed Sgt. Michael Gyamasie and L/CPL Awal Mohammed were shot to death by the suspects on Wednesday at Gomoa Buduburam, near Kasoa in the Central region. One of the cops died on the spot while the other died at the Police Hospital. They were on task force duties at Kasoa-Winneba highway when the incident occurred.
