Central region wins Beta Malt national Interco; sponsors offer GHC30k scholarship to best athletes

The 2019 Inter-regional Schools and Colleges Athletics Competition has come off with Central region emerging victorious.

Dubbed the Beta Malt Interco, the competition which came off at the Bolgatanga Senior High School in Bolgatanga from 19th to 21st September 2019.

Organised by Accra Breweries Limited, manufacturers of Beta Malt, and the Ghana Education Service, the title sponsors crowned ultimate champions from the various regional competitions in the just ended 8-day National Sports Festival.

The crowning of the ultimate champions was preceded by over six months of athletic competitions from the preliminary stages which saw the sponsors, Beta Malt refreshing athletes through every stage.

Speaking on their partnership with GES and the success of the competition, ABL's Head of Marketing, Ms. Ewurafua Addo-Atuah, stated that “physical education and sports remained important disciplines that provided holistic intervention to developing the mental and physical aspects of the body of young people and what better way to inspire athletes to go all the way up with Beta Malt”.

Apart from their role as title sponsors, Beta Malt also offered scholarships to the overall best female and male athletes out of a total of 720 consisting of equal halves of males and females.

Announcing the scholarship, Beta Malt Brands Manager, Mrs. Portia Offei Asare, explained that the offer was "to continue to keep alive the hope of many student-athletes dreaming of a future in sports while contributing to ABL’s investment in a growing world where everyone has the opportunity to improve their livelihood. "

The overall best athletes, Foster Ametsi and Grace Obour, received 15,000 each.
