Television show host, Oprah Winfrey, has revealed that she would donate $1.15 million to help minority students who are in college.
The surprise announcement follows an earlier donation of the same amount by various people to help raise funds for students in North Carolina.
Grabbing the microphone, she stunned the predominantly-female audience after a video displayed the amount raised so far.
The crowd erupted in cheers when she said, "So here's what I'm going to do, I'm going to match that number!"
The final amount raised was, therefore, $2.3 million, which is far in excess of the target amount.
Per a report by edition.cnn.com, Winfrey has campaigned for the rights of children for a long time.
According to her, she is a firm believer in the power of education and is therefore convinced that there is nothing better than giving people opportunities.
