Ghanaians on social media are incensed by a video of two policemen assaulting a man in handcuffs.
The disturbing video shows two policemen stationed at the Koforidua Railway Police Station flogging an alleged thief with belt and bicycle tyre.
According to a newspaper report, the suspect is alleged to have stolen GH¢1,600 from his employer.
But the suspect, whose name is only given as Dodzi, denied stealing the GH¢1,600 but instead confessed he took GH¢350 from his boss’ car.
Even though the suspect confessed, the policemen continued to subject him to severe torture and beatings.
Father of the suspect, Alegbe Daniel, told the media that the police detained his son from Friday, September 27 to Tuesday, October 1 after assaulting him.
Meanwhile, the acting Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, has directed the immediate interdiction of two police officers spotted in a viral video torturing a man in their custody.
The two officers have also been identified as General Sergeant Patrick Amoako and General Lance Corporal Isaac Marfo.
