A woman in labour has given birth in the middle of the road in Dambai in the Oti Region.
It took the timely intervention of two public health officers who were also traveling around that route to help the woman deliver safely, albeit in the middle of the road.
Rita Wurapa and Rose Ayivor were the public health officers.
The expectant mother was on the back of the motor rider (husband) to the hospital when he had to stop because the wife was in distress.
An eyewitness says the intervention of the two medical officers saved the hopeless situation.
According to the eyewitness, Rita Wurapa and her colleague came to the rescue of the woman and helped her deliver right in the middle of the road in Dambai.
The health officers asked the women who were around to form a screen with their cloths.
The mother and the newly-born baby were later sent to the hospital. Both of them are doing very well.
