New Ginmastic coach Diego Maradona might be the greatest players to ever grace the beautiful game, but as a coach things are a bit different.
Maradona has reportedly sent seven of his first team players back to the reserves after a nightmare start to his return to his native Argentina.
What started out as an emotional comeback for Maradona has quickly morphed to something else as his Gimnasia side have lost their opening three games under the guidance of the 58-year old.
The Sun reports that after the treble of torrid results, Maradona resorted to drastic measures as he sent senior players to the reserves.
As it stands, Gimnasia’s fortunes have failed to turn around and they have now lost seven games in a row, with three losses coming under the management of Maradona.
The seven players who have been axed include Jonathan Chacon, Guillermo Enrique, Lucas Miguez, Juan Cataldi, Khalil Caraballo, Eric Ramirez and Lucas Calderon.
Their ousting from first team football comes as Gimnastic prepare for a crucial game against second-bottom Godoy Cruz at the weekend.
Godoy Cruz have also not had the best starts to the season, and the game will provide Maradona a massive chance to leapfrog their rivals and record a first win of the season at the ninth time of asking.
