Bawumia hands over 3-bedroom GHc180,000 house to 2019’s Most Outstanding Teacher

- The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has presented a 3-bedroom house to the most outstanding teacher for the year 2019

- The winner, Sabina Koba Dosu, works at the Akwatia St Dominic Junior High School, where she teaches Science and ICT

- Dr. Bawumia stated admitted that there is a lot that needs to be done for teachers and the government is doing its best in that regard

Sabina Koba Dosu, a teacher at the Akwatia St Dominic Junior High School in the Eastern region, has been awarded a 3-bedroom house worth GHC180,000.

Dosu teaches Science and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and was adjudged as the most outstanding teacher for the year 2019.

Presenting the award to her, the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, noted that teachers in Ghana still face challenges that need to be addressed.

He, however, added that the government is committed to empowering and enhancing the working conditions of teachers.

Per a report by 3news.com, Dr. Bawumia went on to say that the ministry of education and its agencies with support from development partners is collaborating with Norwegian Teacher Initiative to develop a comprehensive teacher policy.

In other news, some graduates of the School of Hygiene in Accra, Tamale, and Ho, who have been unemployed for years now, have revealed sad details about their plight.

One of the executives of the Concerned Unemployed Graduates of the Schools of Hygiene, Issah Sayibu, explained that students who completed school from 2016 through to 2019 are still unemployed.

Sayibu went on to say that several attempts to engage the government to fulfill its promise have yielded little results.

He added that President Akufo-Addo, in the year 2016, touched on the plight of such students in an address.
