Dr. Evans-Anfom: Bawumia, other powerful people celebrate 100th birthday of Ghana’s oldest doctor

- Ghana's oldest medical practitioner, Dr. Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, has celebrated his 100th birthday

Ghana’s vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joined other people to celebrate the birthday of the oldest medical practitioner in the country, Dr. Emmanuel Evans-Anfom.

Other popular personalities present were the first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison and the chancellor of the University of Ghana, Mary Chinery-Hesse.

Others were the former vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, the leadership of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council as well as old students of the Achimota School.

Also present were the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana led by the moderator, Rt Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, the clerk-elect of the general assembly of the church, Rev. Dr G.N.N. Odonkor, a former moderator of the church, the Very Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey, and the minister in charge of the Ebenezer Congregation, Osu, where Dr. Evans-Anfom worships, Rev. Nii Teiko Dagadu.

There were also several family members from around the world to join in the celebration.

Per a report by graphic.com.gh, KLM, the Royal Dutch airline also shares the same birthday with the celebrated surgeon.

For that reason, they have been part of his birthday celebrations for the past 20 years.

In other news, a Ghanaian artist known as Kobina Nyarko has impressed the American ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie Sanders Sullivan, with his art.

Ambassador Sullivan expressed her admiration for the works of the artist who is also known as the Fish Man.

Kobina reveals that he has been painting marine animals in their environments for about 20 years.

Information available shows that he has consistently painting fishes in his art as he seeks to explore the symbolism of fishes in painting.
