Telcos directed to stop expiry of voice and data bundles immediately

Telecommunication operators have been instructed to with immediate effect desist from allowing unused data and voice bundles purchased by consumers expire.

The Ministry of Communications in a letter dated October 9, 2019 issued the new directive saying, “all unused data and voice bundles purchased by subscribers do not expire and must be rolled over with the next recharge”.

The letter signed by the minister in charge of the sector, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful also said telcos should stop the instant deduction of the Communications Service Tax (CST).

The letter was written to the National Communications Authority and copied to CEOs of MTN and Vodafone as well as the two Deputy Ministers of Communication.

Meanwhile, AirtelTigo is the only network operator in Ghana which offers data bundle that does not expire.
