Strong gov't policies got KIA ranked 1st in West Africa – Akufo-Addo brags

- President Akufo-Addo has said the policies put in place by his government within the aviation industry has helped in the ranking of the Kotoka International Airport

- Akufo-Addo said the country's aviation industry has seen considerable growth in recent years

- He attributed this to the stability of the political, social, and economic climate in the country

President Akufo-Addo has said the policies put in place by his government within the aviation industry has helped in the ranking of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as the best in West Africa and fourth-best on the continent.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the 28th ACI Africa Annual General Assembly Conference and Exhibition in Accra on Tuesday, 15 October 2019, President Akufo-Addo said the country's aviation industry has seen considerable growth in recent years

This he said has been made possible by the continuous stability of the political, social, and economic climate in the country.

"As a result of the strong policy initiatives by the government, and the adherence to high Airports Service Quality Standards at the various airports, ACI ranked the Kotoka International Airport as the best airport in West Africa, and 6th in Africa in the last quarter of 2018.
The airport has been ranked again 1st in West Africa, and 4th in Africa, in the first quarter of 2019, ” he said.

Meanwhile, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has indicated that if the NDC is voted back into power they will solve the infrastructure deficit in senior high schools.

He said the NDC would construct 100 senior high schools in its first 90 days in office.

Asiedu Nketia emphatically stated that all the abandoned community day schools which the NDC started would be completed.

The chief scribe said the existing challenges confronting the smooth implementation of the free SHS is the double-track system and the placement system as well as funding of the policy.
