A video emerged online in which President Akufo-Addo was seen seated among other African heads of state with Gambia President Adama Barrow sitting right to his left.
While Barrow and the many others had their heads raised and listening to one of the speakers at the summit, President Akufo-Addo could be seen with his head bowed down. He looked like somebody who was either dozing off or was not interested in the speech.
After the emergence of the video, many Ghanaians concluded on social media that Akufo-Addo was sleeping though the video was only seven seconds long and could not have been used to make a fair representation of what actually happened.
Watch the video:
Many are those shared their opinions about the video on social media. For some, Akufo-Addo was 'sleeping' because the meeting was boring and for others, he was stressed because of pressure from Ghanaians on his government and needed to cool off.
However, following the conclusion by many that Akufo-Addo was sleeping, another video has surfaced to disprove the sleeping claims.
The new video which is 21-seconds long goes much beyond the first one and even shows Akufo-Addo raising his head during the speech.
From the second video, it did not look like Akufo-Addo dozed off as the first video had suggested as he was much aware of what was going on.
As things stand now, an objective person cannot a conclusion as to whether Akufo-Addo slept or not but for some he slept.
President Akufo-Addo is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and hold meetings with CEOs of some Russian enterprises.
The two-day conference, under the theme "For Peace, Security and Development," seeks to deepen ties of friendship between Russia and Africa, as well as explore other areas of co-operation which will benefit both participating nations.
