Michy Batshuayi's goal was all Chelsea needed to silence Ajax in a Group H Champions League clash played at Amsterdam Arena on Wednesday evening, October 23.
Both sides came into the encounter in fine form with Chelsea collecting an impressive five wins in all competitions in the last five matches.
Ajax, on the other hand are in fine form as they have not lost in any competition this season and are yet to concede in the Champions League.
Frank Lampard made just two changes from the squad that stunned Newcastle 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, with Mateo Kovacic replacing the injured Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi earning his first start of the season.
The tactical tweak proved critical for the Chelsea side as Hudson-Odoi nearly handed the visitors the lead in the 27th minute, only for the Englishman to fluff the chance.

Ajax should have scored the opener eight minutes later through Promes, but the Dutch forward had his goal ruled for an offside as the first half finished goalless.
The opening exchanges of the second half saw neither side show any urgency of scoring with fans being treated to absence of quality and no fluidity.
Michy Batshuayi would however later show flicks of quality, nearly breaking the deadlock in the 72nd minute, firing his shot above the bar in a one-one-one with the keeper.
He however made amends to the missed chance in the 86th minute, thumping the shot in off the bar after benefiting from Pulisic's cross.
The Blues eventually held on to claim a 1-0 slim victory to cart home all the three points.
