Photos of Akufo-Addo at Russia-Africa Summit drop after viral 'sleeping' video

President Nana Akufo-Addo has been trending on social media following a video of him at the Russia-Africa Summit which is being held in the Russian city of Sochi.

In the video sighted by, Akufo-Addo who is seated among other African heads of state looked to be looking downwards while one of the speakers delivered his speech.

Since the video popped up, many Ghanaians have concluded on social media that Akufo-Addo was sleeping though the video was only seven seconds long.

But latest photos show President Akufo-Addo did not go to sleep as some Ghanaians are peddling on social media.

In the photos sighted by, it could be said that Akufo-Addo has had a fruitful summit as he used the opportunity to hold discussions with Russia President Vladimir Putin and other leaders.

The president's visit also included other activities a dn the photos have him even making time to water a flower.

Sharing the photos on his official Instagram handle, Akufo-Addo explained the purpose of the summit.

"On Wednesday, 23rd October, 2019, I led the Ghanaian delegation to attend the maiden Russia-Africa Summit, being held in Sochi, Russia. The Summit is being held to deepen the ties of friendship between the two sides, as well as explore other areas of co-operation to their mutual benefit," he wrote.

Meanwhile, has sighted a new video of Akufo-Addo at the meeting which disproves the claims that he was sleeping.

In the new video which is an extended version of the first one, Akufo-Addo could be seen raising up his head during the speech suggesting that he was probably reading from something.
