High Court directs Asamoah Gyan to pay wife over GHC200k as maintenance fee

General captain of the Ghana Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has been ordered by the Accra High Court to pay his disgruntled wife Gifty Gyan an amount of GH¢204,392.22 as maintenance fee.

The Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the court presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Hafisata Amaleboba said the money will be used as upkeep money for the three children and other things.

The amount is covering a 15-month period (July 2018 to September 2019) where Gyan did not provide for his family.

The judge ruled that while, the main ruling on the marriage application pends for a final determination, Asamoah Gyan must settle bills and other expenditure covering water, electricity, gas-£680, internet- £180, skype – £107.91, saloon and other vehicle maintenance- £200, home maintenance- £150 in arrears commencing from July 2018 to September 2019, totalling £18,450.74.

The order also include “bills in respect of groceries £1, 500, fuel-£250, calls-£50, clothing-£200 in arrears commencing July 2019 to September 2019 totaling-£6,000

The Black Stars General Captain is also to pay the educational expenses of the three children, including those in arrears from July 2018 to September 2019 covering (pockets money, school trips, books etc), amounting to £2,800.
