Tears flow as Lion King star dies of cardiac arrest at age 36

Popular Lion King and Isibaya actor, Andile Gumbi, has been confirmed dead at the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Israel, Jerusalem after suffering from cardiac arrest.

According to Face2Face Africa, Andile Gumbi, 36, died in Israel while performing in a musical production called Daniel The Musical where he was booked to play King Nebuchadnezzar.

Mzansi Magic Publicity & EPG Coordinator confirmed Gumbi’s death in a statement to TshisaLIVE while noting it was with profound sadness that the family of the deceased ''share the news that our beloved Andile passed away this morning. Andile received the best.

''We request that the family be given space to grieve and that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time. The family will make a statement at the appropriate time.''

Andile Gumbi, who is a father of one reportedly fought for his life in ICU at the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Israel, Jerusalem after the heart attack.

''In the early morning he deteriorated and suffered a cardiac arrest, but the medical personnel at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre managed to successfully resuscitate him,'' a statement released by the production on its Facebook page said.

Andile Gumbi's demise has sent shock waves across South Africa, his native country, with many sharing their condolences on social media.

In a related story, a young lady identified as Farida Saminu has reportedly drowned in a flood in the Nigerian state of Kaduna on Sunday evening on October 27, 2019.

Reports say Farida was set for her wedding ceremony scheduled for Friday, November 1, 2019.

A relative of the deceased, Husaini K. disclosed in an interview with LIB that Farida went for a meeting with the makeup artiste she had contracted for her wedding and was heading home when the sad incident unfolded.

She boarded a tricycle known as ‘aboboyaa’ that had five passengers including herself.
