Suspected armed robbers have allegedly killed a security guard at the Sunyani Technical University (STU), formerly known as Sunyani Polytechnic (S Poly).
The security officer who was deployed at watch E-Zwich, Zenith Bank, GCB Bank, and Barclays Bank ATM posts on campus during an attack by the suspected robbers.
Identified as Dabila Sumaila, the deceased who is believed to be in his 50s suffered the unfortunate fate during a raid on the ATMs by the suspected robbers.
According to a report YEN.com.gh sighted Arknewsonline.com, Sumaila was found with his face covered with a jacket. His hands and legs were tied with a rope to a chair and table at a garage on the campus.
“The robbers succeeded in breaking into the ATM of the GCB but failed in their attempt at that of Barclays Bank. They covered the CCTV in the room with a piece of cloth," the report quoted Ama Konadu who was at the crime scene to have said.
Police personnel from Sunyani Municipal Command led by the Crime Officer, Inspector Kingsley Wiredu arrived at the scene this morning and said police would send the deceased’s body to the morgue of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital for autopsy.
Narrating how it all happened, the NPP second vice-chairman of the constituency, Justice Acquah, said the murderer broke into the deceased room through his window.
