Cancer specialist dies of stage 4 prostate cancer

A recognised Nigerian cancer specialist, Professor Aderemi Tajudeen Ajekigbe, has passed away exactly four months after he was diagnosed with stage four of prostate cancer.

According to research, that stage of the cancer is mostly not curable when it hits men, especially in their later years.

Founder of Atinuke Cancer Foundation, Tinu Lawal, broke the news saying the professor himself revealed his health status to her in June 2019.

“Ajekigbe revealed he had some complications while he was sleeping. “He couldn’t carry his body. He had to call the ambulance to carry him. By the time they ran tests and everything on him, he had prostate cancer, Stage Four,” Tinu Lawal recalled

She added that his prostate cancer was detected in June 2019.

The renowned oncologist went on compulsory retirement from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in 2017 after decades of practice in the oncology and radiology department.

In other news, suspected armed robbers have allegedly killed a security guard at the Sunyani Technical University (STU), formerly known as Sunyani Polytechnic (S Poly).

The security officer who was deployed at watch E-Zwich, Zenith Bank, GCB Bank, and Barclays Bank ATM posts on campus was killed during an attack by the suspected robbers.

Identified as Dabila Sumaila, the deceased, who is believed to be in his fifties suffered the unfortunate fate during a raid on the ATMs by the suspected robbers.
