9 Hollywood stars many do not know are Ghanaian

A lot of Blacks have made it to great heights in Hollywood to the admiration of all. Unknown to many, a good number of the black people who constantly appear on the screen under the big brand hail from Ghana.

Here is a compilation of 10 of the big names out there:

1. Peter Mensah:

Peter Mensah hails from the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana and has starred in the popular Spartacus series among many other works including Avatar, Tears of the Sun, Jason X, Harvard Man and The Incredible Hulk.

2. Boris Kodjoe:

Boris comes from the Eastern Region of Ghana and has been in the limelight for many years.

The superstar has starred in Brown Sugar, and the Damon Carter on the showtime drama series Soul Food.

He is also a popular face in The Last Man on Earth by FOX and several others.

3. Freema Agyeman:

Freema Agyeman though now English is the daughter of a Ghanaian father. Freema has been in Martha Jones in a series called 'Doctor Who' as well as 'Torchwood,' Amanita Caplan in 'Sense8' and other popular scenes.

4. Idris Elba:

Though his father is from Sierra Leone, Idris' mother is from Ghana. He is a very popular face in Hollywood who has been seen in Thor, Obsessed, Fast and Furious, Cats, The Wire, The Avengers, Beast of No Nation and many more.

5. Vic Mensa:

Vic Mensa, who hails from Ghana is now an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. He is the brain behind 'Savemoney', a music collection.

6. Michael Blackson:

Michael, a Ghanaian, is also known as Jafari Ferguson. He had a taste of fame through lots of prominent features in great titles since the year 2000.

He has been in 'Next Friday', 30 Rock, The Bad Boys of Comedy. He was also in the popular 'I'll Be in the Sky' music video and some other great scenes.

7. Joey Ansah:

Though his mother his not from Ghana, Joey's father is from Ghana and is called Kofi Ansah. Since 2005, the Ghanaian has been featured in popular movies such as Love Struck, Timewatch, Spoons, Batman Begins, The Bourne Ultimatum among lots of other prominent titles.

8. Nana-Kofi Siriboe:

The great Hollywood superstar, who has been featured in several movies such as Queen Sugar, The Longshots, Prom, Whiplash, Straight Outta Compton and a host of others, is the son of Kwame Boakye from Ghana.

9. Abraham Attah:

Abraham Nii Attah, now a Hollywood star, hails from the Greater-Accra region of Ghana. The young man has starred in Beasts of No Nation, Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as The Modern Ocean.

In other news, Mabel Suglo the CEO of Dignified Wear, a fashion brand that makes African bags, jewelry and footwear was nominated for The Returnees Awards in Cameroon and came out massively victorious.

Dignified Wear trains and employs persons with disabilities and rural women to handcraft durable, versatile and fashionable shoes, handbags, locally woven fabric clothing and jewelry from recycled tires, scrap fabrics, cotton threads, recycled glass and plastic beads.
