The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo, has revealed that the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and the Daily Guide newspaper have decided to do all it takes to ruin his reputation.
Reacting to EOCO’s investigations of alleged procurement breaches in the purchase of cars, which Domelovo said has nothing to do with his office, he explained that although he is not above the law, he would continue to discharge his duties and only death would stop him.
Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show, the Auditor-General revealed that that Daily Guide, in particular, has vowed to “strip him naked” despite all his efforts to expose the rot in both past and present governments.
“I don’t see why they are on the back of my staff. For the past two or three weeks, they have invited my deputies and several officers. I have said it time and again that I don’t fear any attacks on my office. Only death can stop me.
“I want to assure them that they can come and jail me; we will not stop doing what we are doing,” he said boldly.
He, however, encouraged all public office holders and civil servants earning beyond some threshold to declare their assets in line with the law.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has launched an investigation into alleged procurement breaches reported to have taken place at the Ghana Audit Service.
A complaint was lodged by a private citizen at EOCO against the Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo; the Deputy Auditor General (Finance and Administration), Roberta Assiamah-Appiah, and the Audit Service Board.
According to Daily Graphic reports, they were being accused of sidestepping the procurement laws to purchase some vehicles for the Audit Service.
