With a buttery voice and unparalleled musical skills, the star joins a long list of Hollywood’s hottest, starting with a then-29-year-old Mel Gibson in 1985.
When the announcement was made by 2017's Sexiest Man Alive, Blake Shelton, during Tuesday night's live episode of The Voice, Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, couldn't be more thrilled.
Teigen known for always making fun of her husband declared on Twitter that the honour was her's barely 2 hours after teasing fans with big news announcement.
"My secret is out. I have fulfilled my dream of having boned People's sexiest man alive!! an honour!" she wrote.
While many fans celebrated Legend's new honour, as happens every year, some were hoping for another man to win the title.
However, the cookbook author was prepared for the backlash.
"I cannot wait for people to get mad about John Legend being the sexiest man alive. It's my new Starbucks holiday cup," she tweeted.
"No don't send it to me, please. I like to see these people naturally, in the wild," she added.
Legend, who entered the University of Pennsylvania at just 16-years-old said his mother, Phyllis, a seamstress, was his first and biggest fan.
But most importantly, he said his parents, including his dad Ronald, a factory worker, taught him to remain humble and kind.
And now with his gorgeous family and an endless list of accolades, the star is happier and more confident than ever.
