UPSA thrashes other universities to win the 2019 Newsroom Contest

- Accra-based UPSA has won the Newsroom Contest 2019 for the very first time

- It was a great final battle between UPSA and WIUC that saw the host-university win

- The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UPSA congratulated the students for their sterling performance

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has conquered other schools in a fierce battle to win the Newsroom Contest for 2019.

In the finals, the UPSA contestants had to battle a very strong Wisconsin International University College side to lift the highly-coveted trophy.

A news report by Myjoyonline.com indicated that when it was all said and done, UPSA amassed 151 points while Winsconsin gathered 143.

The competition comprises writing, debating and integrated communication.

The defending champion of this year's competition was the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) but the current winners of the trophy, UPSA, thrashed them in the semi-finals.

Cheetah Communications organized the competition and sources reveal UPSA has won it for the very first time.

It was a great moment for UPSA as they were also the host school for the competition.

At the closing ceremony after the competition, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof Charles Barnor spoke joyously, congratulating the contestants for chalking the success that has made the university very proud.

He also mentioned that the judges had done a great job by ensuring the proceedings were fairly judged and for making the scores a true reflection of the performances that were witnessed by all competing schools.

Meanwhile, Steve Harvey has been captured in a recent trending video making a strong assertion about his home continent, Africa.

He was captured in a video as he sat for an interview with 3FM in Ghana.

Steve Harvey has been in Ghana as part of the Year of Return that was organized by Ghana for people in the diaspora to return home to visit their roots.
