Rawlings bemoans poor state of Volta roads

- NDC founder, Jerry Rawlings is the latest person to complain about the poor state of roads in the Volta Region

Former president Jerry John Rawlings has also expressed concern and displeasure over the bad roads in the Volta Region.

He has become the latest person to complain about the deteriorating Volta roads.

Mr. Rawlings made his concern known while traveling to the capital of the region, Ho. He also revealed that the situation or state of the road was no different when he visited Hohoe a few weeks ago.

Residents, motorists and users of the roads in the Volta Region have expressed their unhappiness and are getting impatient with government over the state of roads in the region.

The people of the region have accused the NPP government of neglecting road projects in the region.

Numerous road projects under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration were put on hold by the current government, pending the results of audits to ascertain whether due processes were followed in the award of those contracts.

In addition, government also stopped the construction of roads that were captured under the cocoa road programme across the country as part of a rationalisation exercise.

Meanwhile, the NPP has revealed in the 2020 budget that it will complete all road projects in the country by the end of 2020.
