University of Ghana enrolment now 51:49 female-male student ratio

Student ratio at the University of Ghana is now 51:49 female-male ratio according to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.

According to the premier university, it has exceeded its target of achieving a female-male enrolment ratio of 50:50 by the year 2020.

Professor Oduro Owusu made the announcement at the school’s congregation of the College of Humanities for undergraduates on Thursday, November 14 2019.

He noted that a total of 18,212 enrolled in UG during the 2019/2020 academic year with 9,288 being females, while 8,924 were males.

In all 15,167 enrolled as undergraduates and the rest, graduate students in various programmes in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Addressing the graduating students, the vice-chancellor urged them to use the knowledge acquired to impact society and cause positive change.

As you move on to the next stage of your lives, remember to uphold the values of the university - respect, commitment, integrity and loyalty,” Prof. Owusu advised.

Addressing the graduating class, he prayed that their commitment to obtain knowledge did not end with their graduation but that “you will continue to seek knowledge to enable you to make significant changes in your lives and in society as a whole.
