Man who invaded pitch during Ghana match with South Africa to be prosecuted

The young man who invaded the pitch during Ghana Black Stars’ AFCON qualifier with South Africa in Cape Coast on Thursday, November 14 is set to be charged by the police.

According to DSP Awal Mohammed, Commander for the UCC District Police, the man who is identified as Awal Suleman is being processed for court.

DSP Mohammed said, Suleman will be likely be charged with disturbing public order.

The 25-year-old invaded the pitch which led to a halt of the game for about a minute until he was apprehended by the security at the Cape Coast Stadium.

While many fans who watched the game on TV and live at the stadium found the act as amusing, the police definitely does not find it so.

Ghana defeated South Africa 2-0 in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Thomas Partey scored the Black Stars’ first goal in the first half and substitute Kudus Mohammed scored the second in the second half.
