The hub would allow planes to fix mechanical faults, maintain avionics instruments and re-fuel amongst others, which would give engineers from top Ghanaian Universities the opportunity to prove their worth.

Speaking to Starrfm.com.gh about the project, Dr Thomas Mensah, fiber optics inventor, who is spearheading the project revealed that the project is private sector led.

He said “it’s also a private sector led. We are leading it, but we’ve partnered with Boeing to do the training and we raised half a billion for that project. Plans are going very well and during my book launch I will show this.”

“We will create 400,000 jobs with the airport. We need jobs in this country, for the youth, for everybody. I don’t want anybody the regulators or anybody holding this back because its holding the whole country,” he added.
