Akufo-Addo jets off to UAE, Germany and United Kingdom for 8-days

President Akufo-Addo has left Ghana on Sunday, 17th November 2019, for a visit to the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

A statement from the Presidency noted that President Akufo-Addo is in Abu Dhabi for an official visit, at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Akufo-Addo is expected to hold bilateral talks with the Crown Prince, with the aim of renewing and deepening the ties of co-operation and friendship between the two countries.

He is also going to Germany at the invitation of Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, to participate in the summit of the G20 Compact with Africa Countries, of which Ghana is a member.

The President was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, MP, and by officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.

President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Tuesday, 26th November 2019.

In other news, President Akufo-Addo has shared photos of his visit to the Dagbon state to attend their Damba festival in Yendi.

According to him, it was the first time it has been held in over thirty (30) years.

He wrote that the festival was proof of peace in Dagbon and that the young people of Dagbon can begin to witness a another attractive side of their heritage.
