Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld 753 results of those who sat for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates.

The council revealed that the entire results of 753 candidates are alleged to have been involved in various forms of examination malpractice.
According to WAEC these malpractices included impersonation and bringing mobile phones into the examination halls.
“The withheld results will be released or cancelled as soon as the council concludes its investigations, ” a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said.
It added that 102,278 candidates, made up of 51,935 males and 55,488 females, sat for the examination, and that, out of those who initially registered for the examination, 5,145 were absent
Meanwhile, a story is told about Olivia Agbenyeke, a young resilient high school graduate, who just six years ago, was stuck in one of Ghana’s worst slums, Agbogbloshie, serving as a bartender in her father's drinking joint despite attaining remarkable scores in Science.
Olivia Agbenyeke obtained 7As and one B2 after completing Keta Senior High Technical School as a Science student but had been faced with financial hurdles.
The young graduate’s parents and family simply did not have the means to help their bright daughter to move up the education ladder.
