Floyd Mayweather, the former undisputed welterweight champion of the world, has announced a return to professional boxing, days after announcing his retirement from the sports.

In a recent interview with Reuters, Mayweather announced that he will not be boxing again because the sports had become too brutal for him.

Citing the recent passing away of some boxers from injuries they sustained in the ring, Mayweather indicated that he will rather make money through other ventures.

“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth. Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years, a lot of fighters have passed away inside that squared circle. You have got to know when to hang it up, I had a great career," he told Reuters.

But in what is a sharp u-turn, the 42-year-old is set to return to the boxing ring for a professional fight in 2020.

In a post on his official Instagram page, Mayweather wrote: "Coming out of retirement in 2020."

This will be the fourth time Mayweather will be coming out of retirement to box if he really goes by his announcement.

The American boxing legend first retired in 2007 after beating Ricky Hatton to retain his welterweight title but returned in 2009 to fight Juan Manuel Marquez.

Mayweather retired again in 2015 after beating Manny Pacquiao but came back two years later to fight Conner McGregor in a match in which he reportedly bagged $300 million.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh reported that Mayweather has shown off one of his handsome sons on social media.

Earlier, the wealthy and popular boxing legend had caused a stir with the display of his amazing riches by as he flaunted his luxurious $25 million home in Los Angeles.
