General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said the party insists that the current controversy surrounding the Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo, are mere attempts by government “to have him removed” to prevent scrutiny of the deal.

Addressing a press conference, the NDC stressed that President Akufo-Addo needs to demonstrate that no one is above the laws of Ghana, by punishing those who go against the law.

“This EOCO investigation is designed as retribution against Mr. Domelevo because he has been on the tail of Yaw Osafo Maafo in the massive corruption scandal under which $1 million was paid to Kroll Associates, for no work done.
We are by this press conference calling on President Akufo Addo to immediately order the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Yaw Osafo Maafo for the breaches of the Public Procurement Act," he said.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) launched an investigation into alleged procurement breaches reported to have taken place at the Ghana Audit Service.

A complaint was lodged by a private citizen at EOCO against the Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo; the Deputy Auditor General (Finance and Administration), Roberta Assiamah-Appiah, and the Audit Service Board.

According to Daily Graphic reports, they were being accused of sidestepping the procurement laws to purchase some vehicles for the Audit Service.
