A 'pastor' by name Matthew Osika in Berekum has been arrested following suspicion that he looted musical instruments from a different church.
According to Mynewsghana.com, the Berekum Police in the Bono Region confirmed the reports and made the arrest.
This followed a tip-off they had had from Pastor Paul Asante Bonah, who heads the Amankokwaa Methodist Church as a senior pastor.
Reports indicate that musical instruments had been stolen by some persons from the church premises. At the time, it was not known, who these people were.
Later, the Paul Asante Bonah had leads that the instruments were stolen and kept at the house of pastor Matthew Osika.
The head pastor of the Amankokwaa Methodist Church quickly informed the police, with whom he went to the house of the suspect. True to their suspicions, the stolen musical instruments were found in the house of the suspected pastor.
Responding to the claims, the suspect is alleged to have said that he had bought the instruments from a different person.
According to him, he decided to buy the instruments as he is starting his own ministry.
When he was pushed to say the name of the person, the suspect refused to do so.
He was arrested by the police as investigations are expected to continue until the final judgments and declarations are made.
Pastors have been in the news for various reasons. Just recently, YEN.com.gh reported that an unnamed pastor has been captured in a recent video caning his members who were seen lying on the floor.
It is reported that the church members received the lashes because they were absent during a Sunday service.
It is not known if the pastor had a register he marked which revealed those who were absent.
