The former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, has said she will give the proceeds from her book, I Am Becoming, to the education of the female child.
According to a post on her Instagram page, the proceeds is over $500,000, a sum she said will be donated through her set-up Girls Opportunity Alliance, an initiative that she launched in October 2018.
She said that the money will be used to fund projects of the organisation. Michelle added that girls in Vietnam will also be positively affected by the fund.
She, therefore, asked people who will like to support the project to make donations to the cause, telling people to spread the word.
Black women have been in the news for amazing works lately.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Sharon Steele, a lady who has been in very depressing situations in life and was once in prison has risen to become a topnotch entrepreneur.
According to reports, Steele, who originally comes from Farmington Hills, Michigan and still resides in the same locality, has had challenging moments since childhood.
Early in her life, she had to assume the responsibility of taking charge of her life and providing for her own needs. As though that was not enough, she was soon a mother of children and had to take care of them as a single mother.
Hurray! YEN.com.gh has won the ‘Online News Portal of the Year” award at NCA awards 2019. Click here to view the beautiful photos.
