''Today I had the fright of my life. This afternoon I went to get some lunch from a chop bar near alliance Française and just as we dropped from the car I saw the people around shouting and pointing at a young girl who had just collapsed by the roadside almost on the road with an asthma inhaler on the floor right beside her and cars passing by. Some so close they almost run over her. She was on the ground struggling to breath whiles some of the people around were talking nonsense. Some saying she probably took tramadol or something. It's true Lack of knowledge does make you very dumb.
As soon as I saw her and the inhaler on the floor I rushed straight to her. I quickly stuck the inhaler into her mouth and pressed it so it could spray into her mouth. Her eyes opened and she gasped for air and just went numb. I have never panicked like that in a while. I had to press her chest a few times before she came around again and I gave her more of the inhaler and quickly got some soda water from a small shop just about 2 meters from her.
Can you imagine all these people were just looking on? Honestly I thought she was dead when she went off but I was glad she didn't die. I sat by her as people started to finally come around to assist me sit her up and get her off the road. I then got her something to small to eat. Apparently the thick smoke from a passing truck triggered the asthma attack and everyone was thinking she was a junkie just cause she doesn't look posh and prim.
Ghanaians have this sick mindset of thinking bad for anyone they see struggling. They always conclude that it is be cause of something bad they did. It's not her fault she is asthmatic. For Christ's sake they all saw her remove an asthma inhaler. We need to educate ourselves on some common things Chale. Let's wake up. I am grateful we were there at the right time and I am relieved she is ok. I am happy the universe chose me to help out. ''
