Former president John Dramani Mahama has hinted that if given the opportunity to lead the country again, he will reduce the size of government drastically by scrapping what he calls “useless” ministries created by President Akufo-Addo.

The NDC flag bearer said this in a Facebook live session on Monday, December 23, 2019.
Mahama downplayed the importance of for example the sanitation ministry created by the Akufo-Addo administration.

“I will reduce the size of the ministers, reduce the size of ministries and also reduce the expenditure that Ghanaians spend on the office of the president. Those are the immediate things that I will do,” he said.
According to him, despite having a ministry dedicated to sanitation, Ghana’s capital Accra remains dirty.
“Accra has become the dirtiest city I think in the whole of West Africa,” he said in a live video encounter with Ghanaians on Monday, stressing that having travelled to Abidjan in Ivory Coast and Abuja in Nigeria, these places “look cleaner than Accra”.
“We will move Sanitation ministry back to Local Government, I think it is one of the most useless ministries.

“It hasn’t proven itself, it has not achieved anything in the last three years so we will move it back to the Local Government ministry,” Mahama added.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that 2019 has been a very busy year for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), with the government cutting sod for numerous projects.
While President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have been the busiest, not less can be said for the various ministers.
