Guillaume Soro accuses President Akufo-Addo of refusing grant him asylum in Ghana

Former Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Guillaume Kigbafori Soro has hit out hard President Nana Akufo-Addo for refusing him entry into Ghana on December 23, 2019.

Ivory Coast prosecutors on Monday issued an arrest warrant for presidential candidate Guillaume Soro who aborted a planned return by diverting his flight to Ghana as security forces stormed his party headquarters in Abidjan.

But in a series of tweet, Mr. Soro bemoaned how Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo refuse to receive him while he was in distress and life in danger.

He expressed disgust and disappointment in why an ECOWAS leader will do that to a fellow ECOWAS citizen.

He also mentioned in one of the tweets how he, President Akufo-Addo and former Black Stars striker, Abedi Ayew Pele were common friends.

Soro is accused of attempting to undermine the authority of the state, and misappropriation of public funds.

Guillaume Soro’s supporters believe their leader is the target of an unjust campaign at the hands of President Alassane Dramane Ouattara after announcing plans to run for president.
