Christmas Goodness: Mentally challenged at circle bathed, fed, medicated by outreach ministry

Mental health has become one of the growing case across the world, mental illness is a complex issue with every society struggling to care for its mentally sick.

In Ghana and other countries in Africa, where psychiatric care is an afterthought, the welfare of people living with mental health condition are left to chance.

In adherence to Christ’s edict that Christians should care for the vulnerable, the Christ-side Outreach International held its second ‘One more soul for Jesus’ outreach on Saturday, December 28 at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

As part of their activities, the ministry bathes, clothes and feeds the mentally challenged who otfen times lie in the open and at the mercy of the weather on the street.

Speaking to TheGhanaReport.com, Head of the Outreach Ministry of Christ-side International, Apostle Joseph Addo revealed that the mentally ill need more help.

“There are a lot of people out there who would need help. But these people need it more. ”
“When you look around, they are being treated like second class citizens. We maltreat them, they have also been rejected by society. Should that be the case? he quizzed.

Apostle Addo further said that some of the mentally sick may be on the street through no fault of theirs.

He therefore advised that love and attention to be given to mentally unstable persons on the street.

In other news, AfroChella 2019 happened in grand style on Saturday, 28th December 2019 drawing the attention of the Guinness World Records to its massive jollof cooking.

A news report by Ghanaweb indicates that the jollof that got the attention of the world-renowned organization was prepared by Tasty Tom, a popular food brand in Ghana.

The massive jollof was cooked by a team of experts in a large pot. Reports indicate that jollof has never 'happened' on such a massive scale.
