Floyd Mayweather earned $500k from each punch he landed in the last decade

-Floyd Mayweather made $500,000 for every punch he landed in the last decade, a boxing statistician has said.

-Forbes reports that Mayweather earned $916 million for the 10 bouts he fought in the last decade.

International boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, made a total of $500,000 for every punch he landed in the boxing ring in the last decade.

That is according to boxing statistician, Dan Canobbio, a Compubox operator who analyzed data from Mayweather's 10 fights in the 2010s — all wins, with two knockouts — and found that the unbeaten American landed 1,833 punches.

This means that Mayweather made an estimated $916 million from the punches he landed alone in the last decade.

Mayweather beat a who's who of boxing royalty during that era, including dominant wins over Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and Manny Pacquiao.

He also finished Conor McGregor in the UFC fighter's only boxing rules contest to date, in a bout that punctuated his earnings.

Forbes also reports that Mayweather earned approximately $915 million for those 10 fights, and Canobbio used that figure to calculate just how much cash he received when it came to punches landed.

Canobbio tweeted that of the 4,270 punches Mayweather threw in those 10 fights, he landed 1,833 (a 43% connection rate), making $499,181.67 each time he rammed his gloved knuckles into an opponent's temple, chin, or ribcage.

Though the former five-weight world champion retired from boxing following his 10th round victory over McGregor in 2017, those in the combat sports industry suggest he could make a high-profile return.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Floyd Mayweather had again put up a massive show of opulence after gifting his daughter Iyanna a new Mercedes-AMG G63 2019 model which reportedly cost a whopping £150,000 as Christmas gift.

The boxing legend has a fully successful career spanning decades and basks in affluence and social prestige benefiting of a sports celebrity.

The former WBC welterweight champion similarly boasts of 50-0 undefeated streaks in boxing history throughout his career, marking him out one of the biggest names in the boxing game.
