Captain America's actress Mollie Fitzgerald charged with murder

Actress Mollie Fitzgerald, who played a small role in Captain America: The First Avenger, was accused of fatally stabbing her mother in Kansas recently.

According to TMZ, the actress was arrested by police in Olathe, Kansas on January 1, 2020. She was charged with second-degree murder and is being held on $500k bond for bail (R7 million).

It was reported that the police found Mollie’s 68-year-old mother, Patricia, dead from an apparent stab wound inside her home on 20 December.

Police said they responded to a call of armed disturbance. Mollie was found on the scene and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The case remains under investigation; however, police have not provided additional details yet.

Mollie starred as the Stark girl in the 2011 Marvel film and is also listed as a director and producer of some low-budget short-films, including 2017’s The Creeps.

Mollie is set to be arraigned on Thursday, 2 January, 2020.

Meanwhile, in other international celeb news, Briefly.co.za reported that American pop diva, Mariah Carey, has made history as the first artist to top the Billboard charts in four separate decades.

Carey has had many hits over the years, but her classic holiday song, All I Want For Christmas Is You, has been number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week dated 4 January, 2020, based on sales, radio airplay and streaming data, making it the third week atop the rankings.

According to Channel 24, Carey has had number one singles in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and now 2020s. The hit song was first released in 1994 and gained new fame after it was included on the soundtrack of the 2003 film, Love, Actually.
