Getting helped makes life less difficult. And the greatest of helps sometimes comes from those we are not familiar with. This is exactly the story of Latonya Young, a single mother of three and a Uber driver, who got helped by her passenger, Kevin Esch.

Kevin cleared a $693 (N250,519.50) school debt so that she could finish school. He paid the sum to Georgia State University, ABC News reports.

The mother of three said he cannot appreciate her helper enough for everything he had done for her. She said what astounded her most was not just his willingness to help her, but that he had only known her for about 20 minutes.

"I have thanked him so much but I feel like I haven’t thanked him enough. It was not just the money but his willingness and his sacrifice for me to do better in life. This man knew me for maybe 20 minutes," she said.

It should be noted that she started as ride sharing driver five years ago to supplement the income she makes as a hairstylist.

She had dropped out of school at the young age of 16 when she became pregnant with her son who is now 26.

Despite the fact that she got her General Educational Development in 2007, she felt the need to achieve more as that alone was not enough.

Three years later, she enrolled at the university but was stopped because of a $693 hold on her account.

"I asked them could I pay it monthly and they said they didn’t do payment arrangements so I kind of stopped going to school at that point. Then shortly after that I was in a really bad car accident and underwent two surgeries,” she said.

The 43-year-old mother said that whenever she gathered the money to clear off the debt, some unexpected expenses that needed to be quickly taken care of would come up.

In 2018, however, he picked up Kevin in Atlanta and the duo connected, trading what they each were emotionally going through.

After he helped her, Kevin would not take back the money even when Young offered, telling her to use it for her kids instead.

"That weekend I did make enough money to pay the $693 and I tried to give it to Kevin and he wouldn’t take it. He told me to use it for my kids,” he said.
