GFA appoints C.K Akonnor as interim Black Stars coach

- Coach C.K Akonnor has been nominated to act as interim Black Stars coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has assigned former Black Stars skipper, C.K Akonnor as interim coach for the senior national team.

The ex-Asante Kotoko coach was promoted after the GFA dissolved the technical team of all national teams on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

The GFA’s announcement also technically meant, Kwesi Appiah’s reign as Black Stars coach has also ended.

Kwesi Appiah in November 2019 announced C.K Akonnor as his new deputy and member of his backroom staff of the Black Stars after he said he couldn’t work with coach Ibrahim Tanko again.

C.K Akonnor is now tasked with the responsibility to put together a team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March until a new Black Stars coach is appointed.

Meanwhile, the executive council of the GFA has also appointed Prosper Harrison Addo as General Secretary of the FA.

The statement from the GFA stated that Mr. Addo’s appointment takes immediate effect.

Mr. Prosper Harrison Addo is a legal practitioner.

Prior to taking up the GFA CEO appointment, Mr Addo was a Senior Manager, Compliance at Scancom Limited (MTN Ghana), where he also previously held the position of Manager, Commercial Legal.

He holds a Law and Economics degree from the University of Ghana, Legon. Mr Addo also holds an MBA from the Salford Business School, University of Salford in Manchester, United Kingdom.

He is a lawyer with over 18 years’ experience and a member of the Ghana Bar Association.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that on December 31, 2019, Prophet Nigel Gaisie of True Word Prophetic Ministry released over 20 prophecies and projections about 2020 which include what awaits the senior national team, the Black Stars.

According to Prophet Nigel, the only way the Black Stars can win any trophy is by seeking the face of God in 2020.
